Last meeting report: 'Magic' with Raoul Speek

Another exciting and productive workshop with Raul Speek and his wife Heather. We welcomed several new members today and enjoyed Raul’s instruction on proportion and perspective. We drew Faces in pencil and pen inspired by examples of Raul’s work, following on with colour. These individual pieces of work were later used as starters for a combined mural measuring over 5 metres long. It is so exciting to be challenged. Working together, we produced a colourful and exciting Mural with more than a taste of the Caribbean.

Workshop: 'Painting Paradise' with Kate Kelly 10.30am-1.00pm

Kate Kelly is a Pembrokeshire-based artist who creates vibrant coastal paintings in oils and acrylics. Her work primarily explores the beauty of the sky, bold colour to conjure atmosphere and textures to describe a moment in the landscape.

Workshop: 'Willow' with Cassandra Lishman 10.30am-1.00pm

A chance for members to try a different art form. We will learn about willow weaving and make Stars, Hearts and Garlic baskets. The day may be split into two sessions if there is a large take-up. All materials provided.

Workshop: 

Workshop: 'Lino Cut Printmaking' with Beth Knight 10.30am-1.30pm

Beth was an exhibitor at the recent Welsh Craft festival in Cardigan Castle. She will demonstrate modern lino cut techniques, with advice on tools and materials. This will be followed by a Q&A session and hand printing with pre-cut demonstration blocks.

Our annual summer exhibition is always popular and successful, so if you have not exhibited before why not give it a go.

A variety of still life subjects will be available for drawing or painting in a medium of your choice. Some club members will take us through their approach to studying and working on still life paintings.
