Last meeting report: Collage with Maya Mitten

​Maya first talked about how she  started using collage and how much she enjoyed it.  She showed us examples of her work and the techniques she used to achieve the different effects.  Her enthusiasm was infectious and we were soon sifting through a large variety of materials she had brought for us including backgrounds, animals, flowers, people and words.  We experimented with different combinations, sizes and types of pictures from magazines and books, getting just the right piece to fit our imagined pictures took quite some searching. It was a really enjoyable way to spend a morning and we ended up with some great results. See photos in the gallery below.

Workshop: 'Magic with Raoul" with Raoul Speek 10.30am-1.00pm

We had great fun with Raoul in our last workshop and he is returning, after tours of Cuba and the USA, to create more magic with us!

 

Monday 13 April

Workshop: 'Painting Paradise' with Kate Kelly 10.30am-1.00pm

Kate Kelly is a Pembrokeshire-based artist who creates vibrant coastal paintings in oils and acrylics. Her work primarily explores the beauty of the sky, bold colour to conjure atmosphere and textures to describe a moment in the landscape.

 

Monday 11 May

Workshop: 'Willow' with Cassandra Lishman 10.30am-1.00pm

A chance for members to try a different art form. We will learn about willow weaving and make Stars, Hearts and Garlic baskets. The day may be split into two sessions if there is a large take-up. All materials provided.

Monday 1 June

Workshop: 

Workshop: 'Lino Cut Printmaking' with Beth Knight 10.30am-1.30pm

Beth was an exhibitor at the recent Welsh Craft festival in Cardigan Castle. She will demonstrate modern lino cut techniques, with advice on tools and materials. This will be followed by a Q&A session and hand printing with pre-cut demonstration blocks.

Summer Exhibition at the Tabernacle, Newport

Our annual summer exhibition is always popular and successful, so if you have not exhibited before why not give it a go.

Workshop: 'Still Life Drawing & Painting' with Club Members 10.30am-1.00pm

A variety of still life subjects will be available for drawing or painting in a medium of your choice. Some club members will take us through their approach to studying and working on still life paintings.
